Training: PADI courses
Over the past 40 years the "Professional Association of Diving Instructors" (PADI) has grown into the biggest world-wide diver instruction and training organisation with members all over the world.
Everything started in the 1950's with the first developments in diving technology by a group of enthusiasts, whose names today are widely known. They realised the dream of voyage into the then unknown underwater world of the oceans and seas. Up until that time only military personnel had the privilege to dive under the surface of the oceans, unsurprisingly they were not in a hurry to share their secrets! But now millions of people have been given the chance to enter completely new environment that is essentially different to the world in which we live.
![]() The law of the underwater world is simple, but markedly different from that which functions on land and so there were many diving tragedies in the early days; the unprofessional approach of the diving pioneers who did not know many of the basic rules that we know today. Injuries and even death were an habitual occurrence for the first scuba divers, obviously is couldn't go on like that… Associations and organisations that offered diving, sprang up like mushrooms. These organisations were constantly reorganising and merging which led to sharing of experience. Finally a series of common training practices were developed so that we today we are able to identify the best way of training. Now there are a number of similar institutes training this common approach. PADI, the biggest association offering diver training was established in 1966 as the national association of the USA. Their basic principles were so successful that today PADI's international standard has 70% of the market, consisting of more than 2500 clubs and diving schools, situated all around the world. Now PADI certificates are accepted by all diving clubs and diving federations, where ever they are in the world. The success of the PADI association is based on stringent instructing and training standards that must be maintained by all members of the PADI. This system is a result of the experiences of a huge number of professional divers, who have developed their skills over many years, gaining experience and passing it on to others. The training flows from basic skills to advanced techniques, from theoretical knowledge to practical diving. The aim of the clubs and schools that work with the PADI standard is to make diving not only available, interesting and fun but also the safest form of underwater activity. An important element of PADI is also availability, customers can participate in programmes of various difficulty, PADI clubs offer courses for everybody, for beginners as well as the more skilled diver. If you chose to take one of the following courses offered by our club, then you will be able to evaluate the two main principles of PADI availability and safety,

In general terms the scuba diver learns how to help a casualty and what to do if further medical assistance is required.
The Dive Master course is based mainly on theory and organisational skills for leading group diving. The DM course requires energy, feedback and diligence.
